Introducing the first Annual CVA Book Sale! That’s right folks, we will be holding a Book Sale here in the CVA Gallery on Saturday May 17th (10am -5pm). All hardcover books will be $1 and paperbacks will be 50 cent.

We need your help to make this event a success. Please consider donating any old books.  The only items we can’t take are magazines, Reader’s Digests, and Encyclopedias.   We will be accepting donations for the book sale in our gallery during normal gallery hours and we will be open an extra hour on Friday (5/16) to receive your donations.

CVA summer camp starts this month. Can you believe it? Summer camp is coming up quick and classes are filling up even quicker. Don’t let your child miss out on a week of summer fun discovering who they are as an artist and what they can create! Let the ART EXPLORATION begin!

Summer will be here before you know it and the CVA is preparing for its best Summer Art Camp yet! To help parents get a head start on summer planning, we have already begun our Early Bird Registration for Art Camp 2008. Register between Friday, Feb. 1, 2008 - Monday, Mar. 31, 2008 and receive a 10% discount on camps.

Yes, its still early in the season, but we’re pumped about this year’s basketball pool. As a fundraiser, every year we have a March Madness pool, which allows CVA Members and supporters the opportunity to share their picks and the excitement of the tournament while helping out the ‘ol CVA. This year brackets will be $10 each and you can fill out as many brackets as you’d like. You don’t even have to know anything about basketball to participate and have fun. In 2006 the Center for Visual Artists created a new membership level to highlight the work and accomplishments of its Exhibiting Members. The Juried Professional Membership status designates member artists who are both technically and professionally proficient. The designation lasts for three consecutive years and these artists have their work featured in an annual exhibition.

The CVA is pleased to announce the return of its Dress For Mess Fundraiser. This year’s theme will be Southern Comfort. There will be food, music, drinks, activities, and more. Tickets are on sale now. Check back soon for more details.

The CVA is proud to announce that the next exhibition will be “The Greensboro 200″. To celebrate the Bicentennial and Greensboro’s rich artist community, we are inviting every local artist to participate. For this one time show you do not have to be a CVA member and there is no entry fee. You simply need to drop your work off to the gallery on Feb. 29, Mar. 1, or Mar. 2. See the prospectus for more details.
