ART IN THE AFTERNOONS
Art-Based After-School Childcare
Art in the Afternoon is our after-school program for K-6th grade students. Each afternoon includes a lesson from our visual art curriculum, free creating time, and outdoor play (weather permitting). Lessons vary, including drawing and painting, ceramics and sculpture, printmaking, collaborative art-making, digital media, and much more. Occasional field trips to artist studios or other venues add to the excitement. We are proud to be an after-school program of choice for The Experiential School of Greensboro.

We are on the GCS public school bus route for Lindley Elementary students.

Join us on teacher workdays and school holidays for art-filled days of creative exploration. Your child will draw, paint, sculpt, and play all day. Typically, we have a theme for each day, and students explore art-making around that theme (superheroes, community art, beach days, graphics and design, etc.).
Be sure to dress for mess, and pack a lunch and snack!
Join us for all new classes for teens ages 13-17 years or grades 7 through 12. Beginning in January 2019, we will offer Introduction to Photography, Jewelry Making with Resin and Polymer Clay, Sewing, and Graffiti Art. Painting and Drawing classes will be starting in February. Check back often, as we are continuously updating our schedule and offerings.
JEWELRY MAKING WITH POLYMER CLAY
Students will enjoy creating out-of-the-box jewelry designs using their own inspiration and style using beginning/intermediate polymer clay techniques. This class is open to students ages 13 to 17 years (7th to 12 grades). The $40 fee covers two sessions and includes all materials.

Designed for students ages 10 to 17 years old, this pottery class is perfect for beginners or for those wanting to extend their existing knowledge of working with clay. Our instructors can work with all skill levels.
Classes meet on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in room 135 of the Greensboro Cultural Center.
This fun class includes camera basics as well as instruction in composition and how to use the light to create the desired effects. Students will be introduced to multiple kinds of photography and will have hands-on practice with our cameras under the direction of a professional photographer.
Do you want to learn to draw or improve your existing skills? Check out this brand new class for teenage artists. Students will learn drawing basics using various media, including graphite, charcoal, Conte, oil pastels, chalk pastels, colored pencils, and pen & ink. All levels welcome, as the instructor will work with students on their individual levels as much as possible. The classes will meet once weekly for 8 weeks.

Looking for something just for your children ages 3-5 years? Check out our brand new Pint-Sized Printmakers, in conjunction with The Music Center. Students will learn about creative expression through the use of color and shapes while exploring basic printmaking techniques for the first half of class. The second half of class focuses on music and movement during a Kindermusik class with The Music Center.
Classes are held on Tuesday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the 1st floor of the Greensboro Cultural Center
