Irvin Maldonado - It Takes Time

The works I submitted are just a couple of things I’ve made throughout this insane year. Some projects were in the making, but COVID-19 cut my last semester at UNCG short, though it couldn’t stop me from creating imagery. Technology has been a useful tool to finetune and extend art to the digital/virtual space, for me. I’m experimenting with new ways to create, expanding beyond just photography, to computer-generated renderings. I want my work to feel like strange infinite instances, activating a visual sense of motion. When I look light, I think about what I can and can’t see, and how our own eyes limit the information we perceive, constantly informing our reality.

Irvin Maldonado is a Mexican-American photographer, filmmaker, and graphic artist based in Greensboro, North Carolina. Influenced by the work of Futurist, Fluxus, and Surrealist artists, Irvin uses traditional, digital, and alternative imaging processes, to explore the displacement of space, time, light, and self.

T. Walker - Float

My favorite songs, poems and books make me think and also provide such detail that it makes me feel like I was apart of the experience. Inherently, I’m a story teller and as a creative I love to tell a good story in everything that I do. I love details that provide smell, visual, feel, etc.  As an artist I aim to tell a story so well that it is felt so deeply that my listener can see the experience. I want them to feel like they were there. I aim to create movies with my words. I aim to be to the ear what the silent movie was to the eye.

Born in Wilmington, Delaware and raised in Jacksonville, North Carolina, T. Walker is an undeniably talented lyricist and story teller. Growing up in the south, he got his start, singing in the choir and while in college, released his first official mixtape “I Am Technology” in February 2010. You can hear the growth and evolution of his life and artistry over time within his musical releases. T. Walker has continued his work on the road during his most recent “2020 Vision Tour” where he landed in various cities such as Portland, Seattle, Philadelphia, Nashville, Charlotte, Raleigh, Washington, D.C. and more performing on SoFar Sounds stages. You can hear his musical influences (Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Andre 3000, Z-ro, DMX, Kirk Franklin and 90’s r&b) peak through his relevant, conscience and melodic flows, with words and metaphors that hit like darts. T. Walker released his latest single “Float”, an explosive track produced by Epik The Dawn has gained lots of traction and support on all streaming platforms. Fans can expect much more ⚡️to come from T. Walker in 2020.

Chris Snow - Fensterfrau

Fensterfrau

Sybil summons the forest spirits from the window of the séance room at Madacre.

Video by Chris Snow

From the very beginning of photography the peculiar properties of the camera as a light and time machine were exploited to make claims about the paranormal. My current work joins the conversation that began with spirit photography as the hallmark phenomenon of nineteenth century Spiritualism, the intersection of photography and the occult, and the camera’s perverse relationship to the real.

Chris Snow has an abiding devotion to the macabre that makes his work unusual, unique, and recognizable. He earned a BFA in Photography from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro (2017) and is a photography, videography, and design instructor with the Center for Visual Arts in Greensboro. His lifelong interest in occult and esoteric subject matter informs his studio practice which along with photography includes fiction writing, the production of conceptual art mags surrealist video projects. He lives and works from Madacre, his home in Summerfield, North Carolina.
