Hanging Art is Much More Complicated than I Thought - Statement from a GCS Principal

Yesterday, after the Guildford County School Principals finished their day of service they had a reflection period where Kristy, Gallery Curator, and myself were able to listen in on their comments about the day. The number one comment, "I'm tired." We relished in the fact that these principals with their high stress jobs that don't get much, if any, of a summer break were just plan worn out after a day at CVA and so many of them were surprised by just how hard we worked (which we love to hear!) One of our favorites of the day was from a high school principal who said he thought galleries and museums just used some fancy hanging system where after one show was done another went up in the same spot. He was amazed that in between every art show the walls are patched, painted and a new show hung all within a single two week period. Now hanging over 600 works of art created by children is another story!
